1. 01 Venus Power

Black lines define the perimeter of floating shapes and identify the single letters that compose the phrase “We all come from Venus”. A mission statement that alludes to Graffiti Art, also applied in the collections hypnotic texture: a vortex of color inspired by the intriguing atmosphere of Venus.

Everyone, regardless of gender, carries with them a dimension of femininity. An energy to be embraced, listened to and accepted. Strong, powerful and joyful, the collection expresses a metaphor to make us think about the need to incorporate feminine attributes that coexist within all of us

  2. 02 Ombra

Muller Van Severen was founded in the early Spring of 2011.

With both Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen being artists, it’s natural that the collection sits somewhere between design and art. The couple has been on an inspired quest for sculpturally interesting furniture objects, always including the space around it, and characterized by a careful research into their shared passion for art, architecture and materials. At the same time Muller Van Severen’s designs appear to be created almost intuitively and with total effortlessness. It looks as if the designers draw with crayons in space.

Ombra, an immersive experiment with shadow, where objects and the imagination float or even fly.

The collaboration between cc-tapis and Muller Van Severen was born remotely, from virtual meetings that took place during 2020. From this initial digital introduction, the Belgian duo took a traditional approach to their creative process and began with model-making; experimenting with paper, cardboard and light. By cutting, sticking and photographing, they delicately layered tone and shadow, adding not only multiple dimensions to their design but also to traditional craftsmanship.

The Ombra collection is available in two designs: one monochromatic and the other graphic and multi-colored.

  3. 03 Dagallà

Accustomed to large scale frescos, murals and sculptures, the artist worked from the bottom up and his creative process underwent a reversal: starting from an aerial view. An interpretation from above that evokes the link of the original divine meaning of the term “Dag allah”.  Piermattei considers Dagallà as a link that eliminates any kind of distance, physical and temporal; a symbol of coexistence between past and present, between before and after that responds to the urge to express shapes, colors and languages on the surface of a rug.
Edoardo Piermattei was born in Ancona (Italy) in 1992. He lives and works in Turin, Italy. Raised in the Marche region, which represented the artistic hearth of Italy during the Renaissance, Edoardo Piermattei had always been fascinated by the imposing ancient architectural structures and by the richness of the color palette in their interior and exterior decorations.

Of Arabic derivation, “Dag allah” literally means “saved by god”. This term is the origin of the Italian word dagala, a word which refers to the islands of vegetation which emerge from the desolate volcanic landscape of solidified lava around Mount Etna.

This was the starting point for Edoardo Piermattei who sees this term as the link between eastern and western cultures, between rug artisans and consumers. Playing with these origins, the artist further transformed the word into Dagallà, seeing the possibility of creating new formations that emerge from the surface of a rug.

Dagallà is a collection of 3 different rugs, Formation 1, Formation 2 and Formation 3 which are presented alongside artworks of the artist created specifically for the cc-tapis showroom.
